The Lilo Vineyard perches 800' over the Monterey bay. Ringed by redwoods that act as a wind break and influence the vineyard. The vineyard is a south facing half bowl with a top soil of loose poor sandy loam. Vines are in two parcels, one 20 year old and one 12 year old. The 2014 vintage was very difficult, it was the third year of an extreme drought. We saw an early bud break followed by an early set, we followed that trajectory to it’s natural finish and had an early harvest of excellent fruit.
