Noceto’s Zinfandel bottlings from the Original Grandpère Vineyard – a site planted over one hundred and fifty years ago and reputedly the oldest, still-producing Zin vineyard in the state – defy expectations for old-vine Amador County versions in that they are outside of the big and burly norm... a wine that does not rush headlong to ripeness but is, instead, a fairly mannerly and well-balanced look at the grape that will drink nicely with not-too-heavy entrees ranging from grilled sausages and lightly smoked pork chops to all sorts of pastas bathed in complex, tomato-based sauces
