The Pó de Poeira is made from parcels of the estate's younger vines. It is a true field blend of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Sousão. One of the prerequisites for Jorge's vineyard was that it be north-facing in order to retain elegance and precision in his wines — qualities not always found in table wines from the Douro. The Pó de Poeira pours a deep, almost opaque, purple with wonderful intensity of color. On the nose, expressive aromas of plum, mocha and cassis waft enticingly from the glass. On the palate, there is an abundance of ripe, juicy black fruits mixed with notes of chocolate and a lively mineral undertone. There is an impeccable balance of fine-grained tannins, firm, refreshing acidity and a rich, but restrained full-body. At no point does the wine seem like anything is out of place: the alcohol level is seamlessly integrated into the wonderful concentration of fruit, tannins and acid. The finish is long, complex and invigorating. The Pó de Poeira is a unique Douro table wine that delivers all the right parts in all the right places.
