2023 Dragonette Cellars Sauvignon Blanc, Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara
On the nose, the wine delivers a mélange of rich ripe yellow and green fruits (mango, honeydew, kiwi fruit, peach, pineapple and apples) intermingled with varietal notes of fresh herbs (thyme, basil), light green grass and mineral notes of granite and sea shell. On the palate, the wine is at once bold and ripe, with juicy green melon, yellow peach, kiwi fruit and passion fruit, lifted and cut by ripe citrus (meyer lemon, texas red grapefruit), chalk, wet stones, graphite and steel, along with a good dose of dried herbs. The wine is medium bodied and deliciously long, with the juicy fruits held aloft by excellent, palate-cleansing acidity. This young wine promises to continue to blossom with age for at least 5-10 years.
