Willett Family Estate Rye, 3 yr Cask Strength, 50ml, Kentucky   

Fresh, floral, and grassy on the nose with sweet honey evoking a springtime garden. A hint of anise and green apple come next although the green apple comes off artificial, like a jolly rancher. There is some deeper caramel sugar under the lighter notes. Sharp anise leads the way on the palate followed by sweet caramel. Light citrus and green apple provide some fruity character mixed with undifferentiated fresh herbs. Anise transitions to a nice prickly pepper and rye spice as the finish evolves reminding me that this otherwise delicate dram is in fact bottled at cask strength.
